Are you the president or president-elect of an organization to which you belong? Are you a member of an organization and have ideas you want to see implemented (or not) by the group? Do you have a parliamentary question or a dilemma that needs an answer or solution? In celebration of Henry M. Robert Day on October , the Florida State Association of Parliamentarians is sponsoring an afternoon with presentations on parliamentary procedure by officers from the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP) that address all three questions. The event will be interactive on Zoom, making for a relaxed learning environment.”Presiding with Precision,” presented by Wanda Sims, Professional Registered Parliamentarian, NAP Immediate Past President. This presentation shows the way to becoming an effective leader by improving your presiding skills through the establishment of goodwill, respect, and trust between the presiding officer
and the assembly.
“Getting What You Want in a Meeting” presented by Carl Nohr, Professional Registered Parliamentarian, NAP Vice President. This presentation will cover what is most commonly seen as opportunities to get what we want, including how to stop what we don’t want. It will delve into the essential parliamentary motions and provide general advice on being an effective member at meetings.
“Question and Answer Forum.” Attendees are invited to ask questions about parliamentary procedure, about a situation unique to their organization that is troublesome. The forum panel composed of professional registered parliamentarians will provide answers to as many questions as time permits.
