If you are planning to make an extended stay out of your convention visit, there are plenty of can’t-miss destinations a day trip (or less) from Phoenix.

  • 60 minutes or less: The city of Florence, AZ, features Arizona as it looked in the 19th century. Casa Grande National Monument preserves the remains of a 14th century settlement in the Sonoran desert.
  • Two hours or less: Montezuma Castle is an ancient Native American cliff dwelling north of Phoenix. Drive a little further north and you’ll find endless beauty in the sandstone cliffs near Sedona. In the opposite direction is Tucson, highlighted by the distinctive influence of the Spanish and Mexican settlers that once lived there.
  • Three hours or more: Arizona’s nickname, the Grand Canyon State, says it all. If you need a different kind of break from the desert heat, travel to the east to the White Mountains and the many activities it has to offer.
