The Nebraska State Association of Parliamentarians hosted its Institute and Annual Meeting Friday, May 13-14, 2011 at Mahoney State Park, just west of Omaha. Nebraska is proud to have provided effective parliamentary services through NSAP/NAP for the last fifty years. A celebration will be held Friday evening.
Nancy Sylvester, PRP, Parliamentarian of the National Association of Parliamentarians and author of several nationally publicized leadership training and parliamentary books was the featured presenter for the institute on Friday and the luncheon on Saturday. Also included in the leadership training sessions was NAP President Ronald R. Stinson, PRP; NAP Secretary Sandra K. Olson, PRP; and Past NAP President Dr. Leonard Young. Jan Falk, PRP, of Omaha was the coordinator of this activity. A parliamentary competition was held on Friday, May 13 with the Kearney FCCLA team winning the $100 prize.
The officers for 2010-2012 include the following: Viola Brannen, RPRP, President; Sandra K. Olson, PRP, Vice-President; Polly Goecke, RP, Secretary; and Linda Chloupek, Treasurer.
As a new or current officer in your school, church or civic organization, are you aware of your responsibilities to that office? If you would like additional information on ways to enhance your skills for these new duties as well as how to adequately prepare an agenda, minutes, or to conduct an efficient meeting, please plan to attend a leadership training session.
Plans for future meeting management training include a workshop June 1, 2012 at the Regency Lodge in Omaha, Nebraska. The theme is "Unravel the Gavel." The annual meeting for NSAP will be held that morning with two afternoon workshops. Additional information will follow. Beginning Friday evening, the NAP District Five Conference will commence. Workshops will continue on Saturday and end on Sunday morning.
