NAP Group Learning Opportunities
One of the most valuable membership benefits for many members of the National Association of Parliamentarians is the opportunity to learn about effective meeting procedure in a group setting. Members at all levels participate in unit meetings, and have the opportunity to put their knowledge to practical use.
While it can be challenging enough to learn about effective meeting procedure—creating agendas, scripting meetings, and managing discussion to make the greatest use of everyone's time—it is quite another to run a meeting as a presiding officer, with all eyes on you. Participation in an NAP unit allows you to participate in meetings as a member, committee member, elected officer, or parliamentarian—all in a learning environment where challenging situations can be analyzed, skills practiced, and learning reinforced.
Most importantly, group learning in NAP involves members with a wide range of experience. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions of experienced parliamentarians, share your past challenges and successes, and help one another be effective members, facilitators, and parliamentary consultants. See which units are active in your area!
