Perpetual Learning And Teaching Organization (PLATO) Parliamentary Law Unit
Welcome to the website of the PLATO Parliamentary Law Unit of Parliamentarians. Located in North Miami Beach, FL our mission is to provide education and leadership growth to the residents of the greater Miami area.
PLATO Parliamentary Law Unit was chartered by the National Association of Parliamentarians on March 10, 1992 as a constituent body, affiliated with the Florida State Association of Parliamentarians (FSAP). PLATO is governed by its:
- Charter with the national and state associations;
- Bylaws, which were last amended October 27, 2003
- Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised; and
- Standing rules adopted on November 29, 1999 dealing with courtesies to the President, donation to FSAP scholarship fund, and education.

PLATO Unit members have a wide variety of interests and experience, from members who are just beginning their study of parliamentary procedure to professional registered parliamentarians who have worked with a number of for profit and nonprofit organizations.
We encourage anyone who would like to learn more about holding effective meetings, serving as an officer of an organization, improving an organization's bylaws, running elections, or other topics to join us at one of our meetings and meet our members.
We offer provisional membership to members of the community who are thinking about learning more about parliamentary procedure.

Meetings and Workshops
The PLATO Unit meets on the fourth Monday of each month. We meet at 7:00 PM at North Miami Beach Senior High School, 1247 NE 167th St, Room 104. Our meetings include a business meeting and an educational program.
Guests are always welcome, and we offer provisional membership to members of the community who are thinking about learning more about parliamentary procedure.
Additionally, we are available to design and host a parliamentary workshop which meets your organizations specific needs, at a time and place most convenient to you.
