NAP Distance Learning Opportunities
The fastest-changing service that the National Association of Parliamentarians offers is its distance learning program.
In September, 2008, NAP began offering parliamentary training courses online with its introductory course, "Minutes Made Easy". This course provides a convenient, flexible way for people who are responsible for taking minutes at meetings to learn essential information about what should be in the minutes and how to prepare ahead of time to make the job easy.
For a comprehensive introduction to effective meeting procedure, consider NAP's distance learning course, Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure: Dynamics of Leadership, offered through a partnership with the University of Wisconsin. Topics included in this course include:
- basic principles and procedures
- business meetings
- classes of motions
- main motions and resolutions
- subsidiary, privileged, and incidental motions
- duties of officers
- business in boards and committees
Students who successfully complete the course are eligible for membership in the National Association of Parliamentarians without further testing, and also receive 14 continuing education units (CEUs) from UW Independent Learning.
Visit the University of Wisconsin Web site to learn more about the course.
