DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
ASSOCIATION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS
UNITS

The DC Association of Parliamentarians currently has four active units chartered by the National Association of Parliamentarians. Many beginners start by joining a unit. Most units also allow those not yet members of NAP/DCAP to join as provisional members.

The units provide an opportunity for its members to develop their expertise on effective meeting procedures through a combination of group study, discussion, and practice. While individual study can be very effective in gaining parliamentary knowledge, many members find it invaluable to have the experience of presiding over meetings, taking minutes, delivering financial reports, and preparing a bylaws revision in a supportive learning atmosphere before they need to perform these duties for another organization to which they belong.
