About RPs and PRPs

A member achieving the Registered Parliamentarian designation does so by demonstrating a thorough knowledge of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised by passing the five-part registration examination.

RPs' achieving the Professional Registered Parliamentarian designation do so by demonstrating an ability to preside, serve as a meeting parliamentarian and teach parliamentary procedure at the Professional Qualifying Course.

DCRUP Membership Information

DC Registered Parliamentarians Unit membership is open to parliamentarians who have attained Registered or Professional Registered status as follows:


  • Primary member–is both a DCAP and NAP member who has chosen the DC Registered Unit as his or her main unit.

  • Affiliate member–is both a DCAP and NAP member and has primary membership in another association or unit.
