Browser Support
The NAP website is designed to be compatible with most modern web browsers, and to display information legibly even on older web browsers that lack formatting features, or on browsers that have certain features disabled.
Supported browsers
Because NAP is a not-for-profit organization and has limited resources, it cannot test an exhaustive list of web browsers for potential display difficulties. However, the following browsers have been tested with the site, and should produce good results when viewing the NAP website:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows, version 6.x
- Apple Safari for Mac OS X, versions 1.x and 2.x
- Mozilla Firefox for Windows, version 1.x
Setting browser preferences
The NAP website is designed to accommodate users' personal preferences with regard to font size. While the menu items listed across the top menu bar are fixed in size, the left-hand menus and all of the page content will vary in size according to browser preference settings.
In Internet Explorer or Firefox, choose Text Size from the View menu, and select a text size that works best for the screen size and other computer settings you have selected on your computer.
In Safari, choose Preferences from the Safari menu, and select Appearance. Change the size of the Default Font in order to modify the display of the NAP website.
Required features
Most modern browsers—that is, version 4 or later of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, or any version of Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, OmniWeb, and similar browsers—contain the necessary features to display the NAP website correctly. Users of older browsers may encounter unusual formatting or other display problems.
In order to login to the NAP website and take advantage of members-only features, your browser must be configured to accept "session cookies." These cookies are not stored on your hard disk and are erased when you close your browser window.
If you want the login page to remember your e-mail address, your browser must be configured to accept cookies. (However, third-party cookies do not need to be enabled for any website features.)
If your browser is not configured to support JavaScript, the items on the menu bar will not change colors as you move the mouse across them. However, they will function exactly the same when you click on them. Additionally, clicking on an e-mail link will not automatically open your e-mail client and address a new blank message; however, you can open your e-mail software and create a blank message manually.
If you have questions about browser support on the NAP website, feel free to contact the webmaster at webmaster@parliamentarians.org.
